Office of Dr. Linda A. Taylor, ND, LAC, PC
Welcome to the office of Dr. Linda A. Taylor, ND, LAC, PC and the Salem Center for Natural Medicine, the alternative medicine choice for your health care needs. The clinic offers natural therapeutics such as acupuncture from Eastern medical traditions as well as Western natural therapeutics to help you with your health.
The Chinese character for happiness translates to have an “open heart.” It is within this spirit that I approach and practice natural medicine. My goal is to help you find this spirit of an open heart or happiness as we work to identify and work with your particular health issue. The root meaning of the word, “doctor”, is teacher. A well-informed patient and skilled doctor form a partnership for effective health care, health promotion and disease prevention. I believe in this team approach to wellness and healing. When both the doctor and patient understand the disease process, we will be able to work together to find a solution that will regain and establish energetic balance and optimal health.
The body has the inherent ability to establish, maintain and restore health.
For those of you who are new to the idea of natural medicine, a basic belief is that the body has the inherent ability to establish, maintain and restore health. When this ability is hindered, and the problems persist, my job is to identify and remove obstacles to health and recovery through treatments that enhance healing. It is in this way that we want to identify the cause of your problems and not just treat your symptoms.
In accordance with the ancient rule for physicians “first do no harm,” a natural medicine treatment plan uses therapies that are gentle, non-invasive and effective without adverse side effects. A conscious effort is made to use methods which do not suppress symptoms.
By choosing natural medicine, you are choosing to take responsibility for your own health. Natural medicine is not just about taking a substance to make you feel better. It is about learning the language of our bodies and to understand what our body is trying to tell us. Each symptom that you experience is your body’s attempt to communicate what it needs. As we learn how to translate that message, we can identify the problem and restore health. My goal is to introduce you to your inner healer.
